After 15 weeks, we have our winner. Congratulations to Kyle Schultz for winning our 9th Annual Charity Football Pool!
The pool ended in the most dramatic fashion, with Kyle and our other remaining player, Bill Buraczewski, on opposite sides of the same game that went down to the final play.
That game took place in New Orleans, where the Saints battled the Washington Commanders. Kyle had the Commanders while Bill was on the Saints.
Washington led throughout, taking a 14-0 lead into halftime, and still held a 10-point advantage at 17-7 by the final quarter. After some back and forth in the 4th, the Saints had the deficit down to just 7 points. New Orleans got a huge break late in regulation when the Commanders missed a 54-yard field goal attempt that would have sealed the game. The Saints took over with just under 2 minutes remaining and drove 56 yards in 12 plays, scoring a touchdown as the regulation clock hit 0:00.
Trailing by one point, New Orleans now faced a critical decision: they could kick the extra point to tie the game and take it into overtime or go for a 2-point conversion and the win. The Saints opted to go for 2, but quarterback Spencer Rattler's rollout pass to the right fell incomplete, giving Washington the win, and securing victory in our pool for Kyle.
