A Recap of the Fall 2024 RV Show Season
A couple of shows remain in November, but the bulk of the Fall RV show season concluded last week. As always, August and September saw countless regional and “Super” shows around the country, presented by RV and boat industry associations.
Always a major highlight for the RV community, the Hershey RV Show, held September 11-15, attracted nearly 48,000 attendees, a more than 5% increase from 2023, as reported by the Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle and Camping Association (PRVCA). Billed as “America’s Largest RV Show,” the event, which takes place in Hershey, PA, the home of The Hershey (candy) Company, featured over 1,500 RVs from 40 manufacturers and offered a first look at 2025 models with cutting-edge designs, technologies, and features.
Some trends for 2025 on display in Hershey and at other shows around the country include:
Destination-style fifth-wheel trailers, which are large, park-style models, are seeing a resurgence in popularity. Offering the comfort of destination trailers with the mobility of fifth wheels, which are better suited for travel, they feature spacious interiors, lofted sleeping areas, and luxurious amenities that cater to travelers seeking a more permanent camping solution.
Another trend for 2025 is that many RVs will feature more innovative, versatile floor plans, multi-functional space, and creative storage solutions. Examples include hidden storage, such as compartments behind TVs or pull-out pantries, which maximize space while keeping the interiors sleek and functional. In many cases, traditional dinettes are being replaced with freestanding tables to provide more flexibility and comfort. Some of the more popular units at the show also featured flexible furniture, high-tech amenities like on-demand water heaters, and cleverly designed workspaces that help them appeal to a wider range of RVers.
Additionally, once exclusive to toy haulers, patios are now being offered on various types of RVs. Some models even provide covered decks and outdoor kitchens to create an outdoor living experience.
Tech-Forward Trends Continue
Companies are continuing the trend of tech-forward RVs, incorporating smart platforms that allow RV owners to manage their systems through a digital interface. This includes optimizing energy use, real-time pet monitoring, and remote updates.
In addition to vehicle displays at Hershey, the event featured nearly 200 booth vendors and seminars on topics such as tips for buying an RV, maintenance, safety, travel, and more. Digital content creators and social media influencers were also in attendance for consumers to meet and ask questions.
Next year’s event, again slated for Hershey’s Giant Center, is scheduled for September 10-14, 2025.
